Accent Modification and Professional Speaking

For some non-native English speakers, communication difficulties are experienced when verbally expressing themselves. These difficulties may include, but are not limited to, formulating messages when speaking English and not being understood by conversation partners. Consequently, our center offers accent modification services to assist individuals when these difficulties exist. Working professionals as well as undergraduate and graduate students who are non-native English speakers can optimize their English-speaking skills for academic, social, and business purposes. Individual sessions are tailored to the communication needs of each client using goal-driven activities. Sessions can include refining spoken English skills for interviews, meetings, presentations, and teleconferences to improve communication and meet the performance standards required in today’s academic and professional settings.

Dialect modification services are also offered for individuals who are native American English speakers and speak with a regional dialect other than General American English.
