Communication and Hearing Enhancement Classes

Hearing loss acquired in adult life can have serious and far-reaching consequences for individuals who experience it, as well as their loved ones. These include deficits in communication, day-to-day activity, social interaction, and overall quality life. NUCASLL offers a group aural rehabilitative course for adults and their communication partners affected by hearing loss.

This Course Aims To:

  • Give you and your companion a better understanding of your hearing loss
  • Develop coping strategies to manage the social and emotional effects associated with reduced hearing
  • Learn about assistive devices that improve hearing abilities on the telephone and tv, as well as at lectures, restaurants, theaters and other social settings
  • Learn how to identify factors that contribute to communication breakdowns
  • Understand the legal rights of people with reduced hearing. Discover the importance of advocating for self and others
  • Develop a supportive environment to discuss and identify solutions to challenging listening environments

If you or a loved one are struggling with reduced hearing, consider registering for our Communication and Hearing Enhancement Classes. Our Audiologists and a team of graduate students will teach strategies that help improve understanding in difficult hearing situations.

There is a growing body of research showing the benefits of Group Aural Rehabilitation for persons with hearing loss and their communication partners.
